A Healthcare Individual Who Listens

At Botti Chiropractic our goal is to understand your pain, listen to your concerns and remove your worries or fears about visiting a chiropractor care center. With that, a professional chiropractor is an individual that listens to your pain and your body. From this, we can identify the best routes and measures to ensure your body will be pain-free in no time. Our goal is to build a trust and relationship with our clients. Did you know that as of 2019, chiropractors are the third largest health care providers? They have become more common due to the widespread curiosity in alternative medicine.

A Custom Experience

Since no pain is the same and everyone experiences different levels of discomfort, creating a custom experience ensures that you will be walking out of our center pain-free after a couple of visits. Whether you are suffering from migraine pain or simple shoulder pain, a customized plan means we can target the area and better remove the discomfort. It also means that you are not just another client or patient, you are an individual we care about.

A Pain-Free Body

Well, we can say that at Botti Chiropractic, our goal is to ensure your body’s ability to be free from pain. A pain-free body is a happy and healthy life, and we are dedicated to bringing the Oak Lawn area a quality chiropractic care experience. Now, it is important to note that, like anything else, you have to keep up with it. Well, we are here to answer that question with two simple bullet points. At Botti Chiropractic and Wellness, our goal is to treat pain but target the source. All-Natural Healing

Contacting your local chiropractor Oak Lawn facility is the first step towards an all-natural healing method. Many individuals question whether or not chiropractic is effective. Considering that it is an all-natural way of healing the body from pain and discomfort, it has long been known as one of the most effective methods for removing pain from the body. The reason it is all natural is that it is completely done by hand, the hand of a trusted and well-educated chiropractor.

Now, do you know the meaning behind the word “chiropractor”? Actually, it comes from the Greek word cheir, which means, “hand” and praktose, which means “done.” In short, Chiropractor means, done by hand. This method has long been known as an all-natural and effective healing method.

Only Requires You & A Trusted Professional

Do local chiropractors really help? Chiropractic care is one of the most effective and quality methods for an individual to all naturally be able to remove pain and discomfort. With that, your local chiropractor will be well-versed and professionally educated in the area of chiropractic care. With this, Dr. Botti attended The National University of Health Sciences due to his untamed passion for alternative medicine and healing methods. With this, one of the reasons chiropractic care is incredibly safe is due to the professional training and amount of knowledge that your local chiropractor, such as Oak Lawn Chiropractor, Dr. Botti, received during his time studying this practice. This not only builds trust between you and your chiropractor, but also builds a long-lasting relationship where you know natural healing is at the forefront.

Is Chiropractic Safe?

As one of the most asked questions by novice individuals eager to know more about alternative medicine, it is one of the safest and healthiest methods to ensure full body healing. With that, it is essential to get to know your local Chiropractor and their specific adjustment methods. In short, if you are suffering from any type of physical discomfort, pain, or ailment, it is time to consider an alternative method for healing.

If you are interested in removing body pain and discomfort and are looking for a qualified practitioner in the Oak Lawn area, Botti Chiropractic and Wellness is here to assist you. Get to know Dr. Botti today and contact us to schedule your consultation today.

Chiropractic Benefits: What You Should Consider | Botti Chiropractic, Oak Lawn

Chiropractic Benefits: Why Everyone Should Consider A Chiropractor

If you are suffering from neck pain, back pain, or even arm or shoulder pain, a chiropractor is the right option for you and your needs. The reason being is that any individual can enjoy chiropractic benefits, especially if the individual works with heavy machinery, sits at a cubicle all day, or have been injured while exercising or working. With that, Botti Chiropractic & Wellness serves the Oak Lawn and surrounding areas. This way, everyone can enjoy the benefits of chiropractic care! Whether you suffer from headaches or migraines, frozen shoulder, or even carpal tunnel, we are dedicated to restoring your well being.

Let’s dive into the multiple benefits of going to see your local Oak Lawn Chiropractor.

Enhances Blood Flow

Did you know that when an area is lacking blood flow in the body it can start to hurt, swell, and even cause long-lasting pain? Well, with safe chiropractic methods, a chiropractor can enhance and bring the blood flow back to specific areas in the body that may be lacking. For instance, if you suffer from neck pain or headaches, an adjustment may be in order. This adjustment will not only elongate the tightened area and remove stress on the muscle and bones, but it will also increase blood flow and circulation.

Great Way To Remove Stress

Other than healthy teas and working out, the chiropractor is one of the healthiest ways to remove stress. Many areas of the body, especially if you work in the physical labor field, will be subject to stress and pain. With that, a chiropractor specifically targets the areas that need pain relief and removes the stress from the muscle tissue, tendons, and bones, allowing for stress to dissolve quickly. Therefore, it is important to consider going to see a chiropractor routinely.

Personalized Treatments

One of the many benefits of chiropractic care is the fact that the treatment is personalized to your needs. A chiropractor, such as Dr. Botti, will listen to your concerns and create a personalized treatment plan that is dedicated to your healing. With that, an eight to twelve-week chiropractic plan is standard to ensure maximum health, well-being, and that pain and discomfort go away.

No Medication

We would never suggest replacing medication with chiropractic care, especially if it is necessary and prescribed by a proper physician. With that, if you are seeking to try an all-natural route to body healing and pain relief, then a chiropractor may be the proper way to go. The reason being is that one of the many benefits of chiropractic care is that it requires no medication, which means no chemicals entering your body, only stress and pain leaving.

Are Purses the Secret Cause Of Back Pain? | Botti Chiropractic, Oak Lawn, IL

Is Your Purse The Secret Cause Of Your Back Pain?

Does fashion have to be painful? In the case of purses and handbags, it often is. If, by the end of a long day schlepping your bag, you feel any of the following, it’s time to seriously re-evaluate your handbag situation:

  • Neck pain and stiffness from shoulder and neck muscles being pulled to one side constantly
  • Shoulder pain: some people even have blood blisters or bruising on the shoulder where the strap sits
  • Back pain from hours of uneven bag hoisting
  • Uneven walking stride from imbalanced bag weight, which can hurt back, knees, hips, and feet
  • Elbow pain

If that seems like you at the end of a long purse-toting day, try these four posture-friendly purse tips:

  1. Wear Crossbody Styles — With Caution
Crossbody messenger bags can be a better ergonomic fashion choice than the one-shoulder versions, but don’t overload them. The more you carry, the more twisting pressure your spine has to endure. A light, small-sized messenger bag is a great choice for a purse, as long as you’re not loading it with an entire change of clothes and your kids’ 15 favorite books and toys. Keep it small and simple and you’re good to go. If you’re not sure if your messenger bag is too heavy, bring it to Oak Lawn chiropractor, Dr. Valentino Botti, loaded the way you normally do, for an evaluation and suggestions.
  1. Wheels Over Totes
We love how much we can stuff into those awesome totes, but our backs do not. If you must take a change of clothes, makeup kit, etc., consider a wheeled bag instead. This goes for a crosstown shopping trip as well as airport hopping. Wheeled shopping bags are all the rage in Europe; everyone uses them, and their backs are grateful.
  1. Unburden Yourself
Be honest: Must you really carry all the items in that bag? Make a point of going through your purse or bag each week and removing what you don’t use regularly. If you’re not using it, you don’t need to carry it. Simplify, simplify, simplify! If you can reduce the amount you carry, you may be able to get the essentials into a small clutch, crossbody purse or messenger bag that doesn’t strain your back.
  1. Backpacks Are Recommended
If you’re someone who needs to carry quite a few things (even if you’re not a college student dragging a laptop, gym shoes and lunch with you everywhere you go) the fashion authorities have been designing hip, jazzy little backpacks with all the style perks and fewer posture problems. As long as you wear the backpack close to the body and the straps are wide, so they don’t dig into your shoulders, a backpack is a smart purse choice.

Just be sure not to sling it over one shoulder only (a bad habit we’ve seen frequently). Use both straps so the weight is distributed evenly on your back and between your shoulders.

Visit Botti Chiropractic & Wellness today!

No must-have handbag is really worth your health, so make sure to evaluate how you feel after a long day of toting your purse. If your neck, back, elbow, shoulder or other joints don’t feel right, unload the non-necessities and consider a more ergonomic bag style. If you have questions about your bag or how to wear it better, contact Oak Lawn chiropractor, Dr. Valentino Botti, office today and ask for a consultation and some ideas on more posture-friendly purse wearing. Is Chiropractic Care For Young Athletes? | Botti Chiropractic, Oak Lawn, IL

How To Care For Your Young Athlete

Chiropractic benefits are not only beneficial for adults, but also young athletes. Botti Chiropractic & Wellness offers numerous chiropractic care plans just for the youth.

Did you know that nearly three out of four families with school-aged children in America have at least one child involved in an organized sport? For many Americans, participating in organized sports is an essential part of childhood. While organized sports are generally considered good for children, both physically and mentally, the experience isn’t always fun and games. Practice, games and the many other demands of being involved in an organized sport can result in injuries or even physical developmental issues. Highly demanding sports with rigorous training schedules — such as wrestling, football, and gymnastics — can be more detrimental to a child’s health than others.

However, that doesn’t mean your child shouldn’t participate. It simply means that parents and children must learn how to protect themselves from certain injuries and prepare their bodies for the demands of the sports they’re going to play.

Here are some essential tips to help you care for your young athlete and prevent sports-related injuries.

Proper Equipment Is a Must

Sports equipment may not always be cheap, but it’s essential to outfit your child with the proper equipment required for his or her sport. Choosing the correct equipment also means ensuring it fits properly. Always inspect your child’s provided equipment, and speak with the trainer or coach if you see any issues. Items such as shoes, pads, and helmets must fit properly, and that means you may need to enlist the help of a professional when purchasing.

Stay Ahead of Injuries

It’s easy to fall into a pattern of being reactive when dealing with injuries. You simply go to the doctor once an injury, such as a broken arm or sprained ankle, is obtained. However, waiting until a problem occurs means it can become a long-term issue. Be sure your child performs a warm-up session and stretching routine before every practice or game. Warming before performing reduces the risk of pulled or torn muscles, and flexibility is key to avoiding injury and playing your best.

Don’t Forget Vitamins

Vitamins can help maintain your young athlete’s good health, reduce pain and promote healing. Vitamin C and a multivitamin are often recommended for children who play organized sports, while amino acids and Vitamin B are known to reduce pain from contact sports (i.e., football and wrestling). Speak to your child’s physician about which vitamins are best for his or her sports regimen.

Spot Injuries/Weaknesses Before They Become Problems

When kids fall, they often leap to their feet before spectators notice anything happened. Even if you’re watching closely, it can be difficult to tell if your child sustained an injury. Encourage your child to tell you whenever a muscle, joint or other body part is uncomfortable. Kids should be seen by medical professionals numerous times throughout the season, not only when an injury has occurred.

Have Oak Lawn Chiropractor, Dr. Valentino Botti, Locate Problems Before They Are Long-Term

Even the smallest injury can turn into a health issue that sticks with a child for his or her entire life. Fortunately, there are ways to prevent these issues from becoming long-term health problems. Taking your child to Oak Lawn chiropractor, Dr. Botti, multiple times throughout the season can help identify issues, such as subluxation, which is often “silent” at first. Many times before a person feels the damage of subluxation — misalignment of vertebrae in the spine — more serious issues have already developed. Regular treatments and checkups are the keys to combating this.

The demands of having a child in an organized sport can be overwhelming, but a few simple steps can aid your child’s health and performance on the field or court. Always buy the proper equipment, encourage healthy pre-workout routines, stay ahead of injuries and visit a chiropractor before your little one heads to his or her first practice or game.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Expectant Mothers | Botti Chiropractic

3 Ways Chiropractic Care Can Benefit Expectant Mothers

Pregnancy can be a real roller coaster ride of physical and emotional changes for expectant moms. In the blink of an eye, joy and excitement can turn to fear and stress because of the hormonal changes of pregnancy — not to mention the natural urgency expectant moms feel about caring for the health of their growing baby. The structural physical changes of pregnancy can also cause considerable pain, to say nothing of the intensity of delivery. Chiropractic care can provide natural, drug-free pain relief while also optimizing nervous system function throughout pregnancy. Many expecting moms and babies experience a smoother, safer pregnancy and a better delivery. At Botti Chiropractic & Wellness, we see many pregnant women and help them find pain relief. Here are the many benefits of chiropractic care for expectant mothers.

1. Chiropractic Care: The Safe Pregnancy Back Pain Relief Option

Most women experience back pain at some point in pregnancy — sometimes so severe that it makes moving and sleeping difficult. Yet painkillers are contraindicated during pregnancy, for the safety of both the expecting mom and baby.

The most obvious reason for pregnancy back pain is that the baby is growing — causing a shift in the woman’s center of gravity, straining muscles, ligaments, and tendons in the lower back. Also, hormones are loosening pelvic ligaments to prepare for delivery, making women more susceptible to injury and imbalance. All of these changes can cause spinal misalignments that pinch nerves and cause back pain and other problems.

A regular schedule of pregnancy chiropractic adjustments helps the spine and pelvis re-align and stay in balance as the baby grows. This treatment can naturally reduce pregnancy back pain problems — without any painkillers — making it safer for the expecting mother and baby. In fact, the American Pregnancy Association regards chiropractic care as a safe pain relief and wellness option for expectant mothers.

2. Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy Improves Nervous System Function

Regular spinal adjustments help keep the spinal cord unimpeded during the changes of pregnancy — which helps all of the woman’s organs and glands work at their optimum levels at this crucial time when her body is building a new human being. This helps pregnant women stay healthier and more relaxed, which is good for babies. This can also decrease the incidence of pregnancy-related headaches, swelling and feelings of stress, all of which help expecting moms sleep better — something else of which pregnant women desperately need.

3. Pregnancy Chiropractic Treatment Can Improve Delivery and Reduce Breech Presentations

The Webster Technique, which can be done throughout pregnancy, keeps pregnant women’s spine, sacrum and pelvis balanced — and optimizes the space available in the womb for the baby to move into correct delivery position. This pregnancy chiropractic care can reduce the incidence of breech presentations and helps many expecting moms experience a faster, less-complicated delivery.

Of course, after the baby is born, it’s also important for new moms to take the best care of themselves as they adapt to motherhood. Continuing postnatal chiropractic care can help moms avoid post-pregnancy back pain and help them stay energetic during an exciting, but physically and emotionally demanding time.

What Posture Can Teach You | Botti Chiropractic & Wellness, Oak Lawn, IL

What Your Posture Says About Your Health

Most people hardly ever think about their posture, and that’s unfortunate. Your posture is a prime indicator of how healthy you are and what health conditions you might experience in the future. One of the biggest chiropractic benefits is helping to improve one’s posture. At Botti Chiropractic & Wellness, we take posture very seriously – and have some tips and exercises that may help understand your posture.

If you want to know a little more about your health and wellness, now and in the future, try this at home:

  1. Stand in Front of the Mirror. Stand in front of a full-length mirror if possible. Keep your eyes closed at first, jogging in place for a moment. Wiggle your arms and shake your head. When you stop, stand with your feet even, shoulder-width apart. Take a deep breath, then relax.
  2. Open Your Eyes. Look at your body — really look at its structure and symmetry. Particularly pay attention to your shoulders. Is one slightly higher than the other? Is one ear a little lower than the other? How evenly do your fingertips hang at your sides? Does one hand hang farther down than the other? Think about the weight on your feet, too. Does it feel like one foot is carrying more weight than the other?

If you notice imbalances, note them in a journal. Maybe even take a selfie, if you’re comfortable with that.

What Do Posture Imbalances Mean?

If you’ve noticed any imbalances, you can probably predict that there will be some pain developing in certain areas in the future. For example, uneven shoulder height indicates that the spine is not correctly aligned. There may be abnormal spinal curvature and vertebral misalignments (subluxations) that can eventually pinch nerves that may cause health dysfunction in several areas.

Uneven wear and tear on your spine and joints can cause a host of health problems, depending on the location of the misalignment or imbalance. For example, a spinal misalignment in the lower back can slowly compress one or more of the intervertebral discs there, eventually causing painful symptoms of sciatica (shooting pain down the lower back, buttocks, and into one or the other leg).

Joint pain in the hips and knees can also develop due to uneven body carriage as you walk and go about your active lifestyle. Athletes, in particular, may notice difficulties in regular workout routines if the spine is not perfectly aligned, as this can cause uneven workout patterns that lead to overuse injuries from poor spinal alignment.

If you noticed that your head is slightly tilted to one side, a misalignment of neck vertebrae, from many hours at a desk, hanging your head over your mobile device, or maybe from a sudden whiplash injury may be to blame. In this case, you might notice an increase in the frequency and severity of headaches or migraines.

Posture problems can literally cause a domino effect of poor health in all areas of the body, depending on which vertebrae are out of alignment, and which nerves are being pinched.

Making Changes Today for a Better Tomorrow!

Even if you are not in pain right now, if you notice any posture imbalances during your mirror test, try to pay closer attention to how you sit, walk and move throughout the day.

Stand up straighter, get lumbar support for your work chair or car, and remember to hold your mobile device at eye level so that you don’t look down at it so much. Your chiropractor can also evaluate your posture, give you chiropractic adjustments to correct subluxations, and advise you on better daily posture and ergonomics. Remember — your posture can reveal volumes about your health, so please pay attention!

Choosing an Oak Lawn Chiropractor | Botti Chiropractic & Wellness, Oak Lawn IL, 60453

Choosing an Oak Lawn Chiropractor

Botti Chiropractic & Wellness,  5569 W. 95TH Street, Oak Lawn IL 60453 / 2674 N. Halsted Ave., Chicago IL 60614

If you have any experience with a chiropractor or you know somebody that has, you will often hear them tell you that “you need to find the right chiropractor” or a “good chiropractor”.  Most often this is done through word of mouth.  “You should go see my oak lawn chiropractor Dr. Botti…he’s really helped me!”  While referrals are good a start one must consider why he or she is making an appointment with a chiropractor before he or she sets out to choose the appropriate one. If for example, a person feels as though they need a tune-up up or has an inclination that they may need to be adjusted well then that person will pretty much have success anywhere they go. There is the exception that we do see often in our Oak Lawn office where a patient believes this is what they need, only to find out through examination that this not what they need.

Many times long-standing although minor aches and pains which come and go are the results of underlying biomechanical and neurological compromise which needs to be treated in a logical order. This order needs to exist as to 1) Not harm the patient and 2) Improve the patient’s condition successfully.  In our practice, for example, we put so much emphasis on proper diagnosis from the get-go that we often do not adjust our patients until we have intervened on higher levels of priority.

Chiropractic Physicians

As a chiropractic physician, we often need to confirm our suspected diagnosis by having the patient introduces a single specific exercise between their first and second visit as a test to determine whether we are right in our suspected diagnosis, and can proceed with a recommended course of treatment, or if we need to take a look at our differential diagnosis and further explore another angle. Patients are often confused or frustrated when I tell them that I want them to perform a single exercise after their first visit and that we will further assess their response on their next visit.

However, when the patient returns feeling substantially better and I have not even physically treated the patient it can be very rewarding in that it creates patient trust, and allows me to proceed with treatment in confidence. You will quickly be labeled a “bad chiropractor” if you assume you know what is best for a patient without actually confirming it first – something that happens all too often, unfortunately.

Migraines and Headaches in Oak Lawn, IL

For example, a patient presents to the office complaining of neck pain. Patient X, a 32-year-old female, has a three-year history of intermittent/frequent neck pain ranging VAS 2/10 to 7/10 at its worst, however as the patient sits before us the pain has been a steady 3/10 for the last month. Although Patient X didn’t mention this on her intake forms we find out from further questioning that the patient has a history of right-sided migraine headaches and occasional right sided jaw pain. Pt. attributes sinus issues to the migraines and was given a mouth guard by her dentist which gives her some relief, although the pain does not go away entirely.

Patient X states that she used to be able to “crack her own neck”  but now she can not. The patient has been seeing another chiropractor for the past two years who would put her on stim and heat and adjust her monthly. She also states that the chiropractor took x-rays and actually showed her that the curve in her neck was “reversed”. Before finishing the exam the Patient X states that she knows she’ll be better once she gets adjusted since this has given her relief in the past.

Chiropractic Care Approaches

One type of chiropractor may be thinking to himself at this point, “fantastic-this patient already knows that I have what she needs…what should I have for lunch”. A Chiropractic Physician, on the other hand, never assumes.  A Chiropractic Physician listens to the findings of his orthopedic or neurological examination.  A Chiropractic Physician correlates his objective data with the relevant subjective data from his patient. A Chiropractic Physician confirms his diagnosis without harming the patient.  A Chiropractic Physician treats the causative factor of a patient’s pain with the appropriate and most evidence-based methods.

In the above-mentioned case, we were able to diagnosis without MRI, that the patient was dealing with chronic disc herniation’s at multiple levels throughout the cervical spine. Despite the patient insisting that we adjust her, we instead introduced some simple specific functional movements for the patient to perform over the next several days while asking her to also avoid doing a few things that she was probably doing without knowing the harm it was causing. When the patient returned for her second visit she informed us that she was feeling a significant improvement in her symptoms and had not woken up with a migraine since speaking to us.  Patient X has since asked us to address several other issues that she forgot to mention on her intake forms and has referred several of her family members in with similar issues.

Your Trusted Oak Lawn Chiropractor

In summary, when choosing an Oak Lawn Chiropractor that’s best for you, choose one that does not emphasis methods of treatment or new cutting technology in their office. Chose one who appears to spend time with their patients. Choose one who appears to show an emphasis on diagnosis and objectivity.  And choose one that appears that is cautiously optimistic when delivering their treatment recommendations to you vs. overtly confident – as confidence comes to discipline, confirmation, and patience!

At Botti Chiropractic & Wellness, we value each of our patients, which is why we offer a new patient special. If you want to see Dr. Botti and learn about the many chiropractic benefits, contact our Oak Lawn office today!
