Low back pain can occur in any person at any age. Causes of back pain are usally caused by injury to a muscle (strain) or ligament (sprain) however the mechanisms for this occurring are actually complex and multifactorial. Common causes include improper lifting, poor posture, lack of regular exercise, fracture, ruptured disk, or arthritis. Activities of daily living and certain work environments can further contribute to and aggravate lumbar spine structure.
There are many different conditions that have been found to lead to back pain. These conditions include strained muscles, sprained ligaments, trigger points, obesity, arthritis, sports injuries, accidents, ruptured discs and in some cases, simple movements. The pain limits the activities you can get involved in including playing sports, working, or handling household chores.
Types Of Back Pain
There are several types of back pain, but the most common are chronic low back pain and acute low back pain.
Acute low back pain: Patients with this kind of pain mostly do not see a doctor since the pain goes away on its own or through simple home care. If this kind of pain lasts for more than four weeks, it will be a good time to consider non-drug treatments and therapies such as chiropractic manipulation. Repetitive acute pain is often a sign of an underlying issue that eventually contributes to arthritic changes and degeneration.
Chronic lower back pain: This is back pain that lasts long. If the pain is not responding to long-term medication, chiropractic care can help. The aim of any treatment should be to reduce pain and improve function.
Symptoms Of Back Pain
The connection between back pain and physical sources is not always clear. There are many patients who deal with excruciating back pain though there are no abnormalities in their spine. The following are some of the common symptoms you might deal with:
- Morning pain
- Tightness in the back, pelvis, and legs
- Pain in the buttock
- Muscle spasm
- Legs giving out
- Pain or tightness with prolonged standing
- Numbness in the thighs or feet
Causes of Back Pain
When we ask our patients why they think that have back pain they are quick to use tell us that they have bulging or herniated discs, stenosis, ect. The medical community treats their conditions and the cycle continues. However, at Botti Chiropractic & Wellness we take it a step further and determine why specifically the patient is predisposed to these particular conditions. Postural compromise, faulty biomechanics, hidden weakness, are causes for dysfunction and pain and must be addressed in order for the patient’s condition to resolve.
Our Chiropractic Care
At Botti Chiropractic & Wellness we will evaluate you to determine where you biomechanical, postural, and structural faults are. We will create a comprehensive plan to address the root cause of your condition and ensure that you are better than you were before your back pain started.
Our patients are usually surprised at quickly they improve and often regret not coming sooner. Many patients overlook chiropractic care when they have a long standing history of lower back pain, have had lower back procedures in the past, or have tried physical therapy in the past. Our therapy is a specialized form of care that is unique, effective, and well tolerated.
